THE ROTARY INTERNATIONAL THEME FOR 2010-2011

Rotary is undoubtedly a unique and premier organization – certainly one of the best in the world. The theme for 2010-2011 “Building Communities, Bridging Continents” reflects who we are and what we do.

Membership in Rotary offers a number of benefits, including: effecting change within the community; developing leadership skills; gaining an understanding of and impacting on international humanitarian issues; developing relationships with community and business leaders.

Members are entitled to visit any Rotary Club – anywhere in the world.

The Rotary E-Club of District 9600 is a provisional club, under the auspices of Rotary District 9600 and in accordance with the rulings of the 2010 Council on Legislation of Rotary International. All club business, meetings, voting etc. will be conducted via electronic communications. Rather than have a fixed time and day for the regular club meeting, the E-Club of District 9600 will use the concept of a meeting “window” – a period of five days in which a club member can sign onto the E-Club website and electronically attend the meeting.

The following profile describes our target membership:-

  • Eligible prospective members worldwide with no previous membership in Rotary.
  • Eligible prospective members who were formerly. But not currently, members of a Rotary Club;
  • Young eligible prospective members who are under the age of 35 who cannot fit the standard Rotary Club meeting format into their schedule;
  • Current Rotarians who are unable to sustain standard Rotary Club membership due to extensive business commitments, health issues, geographical isolation, or a mobile lifestyle, but desire to continue their service commitment through Rotary.

Introducing the first Rotary e-Club of District 9600

The Rotary e-Club of District 9600 is now under development. This will be the home page for the Rotary District 9600 first e-Club. The objective of the e-Club was explained as  “This will allow Rotarians with physical disabilities or [scheduling] restraints to meet regularly and conduct service projects through the Internet,” said RI Director Antonio

Rotary e-Clubs are Rotary clubs that meet electronically. E-Club members have the same responsibilities as other Rotarians to conduct service projects and promote The Rotary Foundation.

Some  e-clubs meet solely through online forums, while others combine electronic with in-person meetings. Each e-club makes that determination for itself.

Commitment to Excellence

We are developing this site with a commitment to excellence. The  philosopher Aristotle wrote:-

"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. "
